Inhofe: Obama's Immigration Policy Nothing More than Amnesty

Location: Washington, DC

Following President Obama's announcement today that his administration will stop deporting illegal immigrants who have entered into the United States, U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) made the following statement:

"This is amnesty plain and simple. No matter how Obama tries to define this action, whenever you grant special exemptions from our immigration laws for a particular group of individuals it can be defined no other way. This new immigration policy is another effort to receive votes during an election year, as it prevents the deportation of individuals who moved to the United States illegally. However, this comes as no great surprise, as it is not the first time this administration has openly shown contempt for our nation's immigration laws."
