The Recreational Fishing Alliance (RFA), one of the country's largest grassroots recreational fishing organizations, formally endorsed Rep. Jon Runyan for re-election today in New Jersey's Third Congressional district, announced the campaign today.
New Gretna-based RFA touted Runyan's tireless work in Congress on behalf of New Jersey's recreational anglers. RFA Executive Director Jim Donofrio says the decision to endorse him was an easy one.
"RFA is proud to have a great friend like Jon Runyan and we fully endorse and support his re-election to the US House of Representatives," stated Donofrio. "Jon has proven to be a strong advocate on our issues who is willing to reach across party lines to get things done. He truly understands the real threat we are facing when it comes to the freedom to fish."
Runyan, author of HR 1646 The American Angler Preservation Act, and an outspoken critic of the Administration's attempt to impose catch shares and a National Ocean Policy, thanked RFA for the endorsement and highlighted his support for Ocean County's coastal communities.
"I am proud to accept the endorsement of RFA. Recreational fishing is an integral part of Ocean County's coastal community and its local economy," said Runyan. "From the charter boat captain, to the bait shop, to the corner sandwich store, job-killing regulations coming out of Washington aren't just hurting anglers they are crippling the small businesses that depend on fishing to survive. I have made it my mission to advocate for these communities and small business owners in Congress, and look forward to continuing that fight."
