Today, Congressman John Tierney presented students, teachers and administrators at the Fuller Meadow School with an American Flag that was flown over the U.S. Capitol in their honor. During the Congressman's visit the students came together for an all school assembly to celebrate the completion of their first year of the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program.
"Teaching our children to treat each other with respect and kindness is extremely important, and I thank Principal Carreiro and her staff for shepherding these students through the program," Congressman Tierney said. "Bullying is a dangerous and harmful problem in our schools and I am hopeful that programs like this one will help keep our children healthier and happier now and in the future. I thank Michael Rogers and his family, and the parents and teachers at Fuller Meadow for supporting the program."
"The teachers' dedication to the Olweus program and our anti-bullying initiatives are obvious. Children are advocating for themselves and becoming more empowered. Thank you to the Fuller Meadow Parents for their support during our first year of implementation of the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program. Special thanks to the Rogers Family for recognizing those efforts. It was exciting for the students and staff to have Congressman Tierney at our event. The Olweus Committee has done a fabulous job planning school wide events and activities, and we look forward to year two of the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program," said Principal Diane Carriero.
