Today, Congressman Joe Donnelly released the following statement in response to President Obama's threat to veto legislation that would repeal the excise tax on the medical device industry due to take effect in 2013. Donnelly is a cosponsor of that legislation and, earlier this week, he announced that he will vote for it on the House floor tomorrow.
"President Obama's threat to veto the medical device tax repeal is wrong and he should drop it. Workers in the Hoosier medical device industry are important to both Indiana's and the country's economy. In these challenging economic times, the medical device industry employs tens of thousands of Americans by developing innovative medical technologies and bringing them to the market. I ask President Obama to join both Democrats and Republicans and support this bill."
