Every law-abiding American has the right to own a gun to hunt and protect his family. The Second Amendment is crystal clear on that. You don't need an assault weapon to hunt deer, and if you do, you shouldn't be anywhere near a gun. The last thing we need is to give every criminal and terrorist the right to buy weapons at our gun shows. And there's no excuse for government record-keeping that's so poor that the dangerously mentally ill and people with restraining orders out against them for threatening their ex-wife or coworkers can slip past background checks. I believe in safe, responsible gun ownership by law-abiding citizens.
