Jeremy's father passed away from cancer when Jeremy was only 26. During his father's illness, he went home to care for him and witnessed first-hand the challenges of navigating the health care system. He was mortified. They were fortunate to have lots of family support and the best nurses and doctors you could ask for. But still, it was like pulling teeth nearly every time they needed to get something done. His wife also experiences this first-hand on a daily basis as she cares for breast cancer patients at the University of Kansas Cancer Center. We need a health care system that works for PATIENTS. We need a health insurance marketplace that is transparent, accountable, accessible and affordable. While we have the best doctors and nurses in the world, the system in which they are forced to operate leads to some of the worst health care outcomes -- particularly for those families in need. As your state representative, Jeremy will fight every day to guarantee we have an insurance marketplace that puts the needs of patients first. As well, he will work tirelessly to ensure that families of ALL income levels have access to the kind of care we would demand for our own parents and our own children.
