Issue Position

I believe it is essential for every Missourian to have the opportunity for a quality education. Through ensuring access to technology and excellent teachers in classrooms, we can give children the necessary tools for success in the future. We need to keep class sizes small and make sure money allocated for education actually makes in into the classroom. Higher education is also a key to success in the workplace, and I will work to lower college tuition costs for Missouri families. I support the rights of educators to work to improve classroom conditions and educational effectiveness. I oppose cuts to the Education Programs which could have resulted in the elimination of funding for Summer School programs, Special Needs Students, and The Career Ladder Program for Teachers. It is wrong, and simply, immoral that the Missouri General Assembly voted to cut $106,000,000 from our state's education budget this year, while giving $100,000,000 to build a new football stadium in St. Louis--I will oppose such budget cuts that hurt our students, and feather the nests of St. Louis Mega-Developers.
