Public education is essential to the American Dream. A vibrant, quality public schools system is the foundation of our economy and even our democracy. We are blessed to have great schools in the Kansas City Northland and Gladstone. I know I personally benefited from a first class education in the North Kansas City School District and I want every child in our state to be able to say the same.

I'll make our schools a top priority. That means small class sizes, 21st century modernization, and good pay for good teachers.

To keep Missouri competitive in the 21st century our children need to be well educated and highly skilled. We need affordable access to public universities and community colleges, as well as technical and vocational education and training.

A generation ago, the average college student borrowed only a few thousand dollars to get a degree -- today the average is fast approaching $30,000. We should have learned from the 2008 recession that amassing too much personal debt can jeopardize the entire American economy. We need to protect access to higher education by keeping it affordable and attainable for future generations.
