Issue Position: Protecting our Private Property Rights

Issue Position

Date: Jan. 1, 2012

Glenn Hegar is rice and corn farmer who earns his living working the same land that has been in his family for six generations. Glenn understands that our private property rights are sacred and no Senator has worked harder to protect those rights. He led the fight against the land grabbing TransTexas Corridor, helping end the project once and for all. Glenn worked to reform the out-of control Texas Department of Transportation to make it more transparent, more accountable, and more accessible to the people of Texas refocusing the agency back to its core mission of building and maintaining roads--nothing more, nothing less. He worked hard to end the public/private partnerships that would have allowed foreign companies to own a part of our Texas Highways. Senator Hegar has secured his place in the legislature as one of the champions of eminent domain reform assuming a major leadership role in the fight to strengthen the protection of Texas landowners.
