Issue Position

I am passionate about our democracy, but we can't take it for granted. The rules of politics continue to change in favor wealthy special interests-- at our expense. The Citizens United ruling allows for unregulated campaign contributions. The 9th Circuit recently overturned our state prohibitions on late, unlimited spending. The recent influxes of big money initiative campaigns that have attempted to buy laws are a critical issue facing our next Secretary of State. I will work to try and curb the influence of special interests in our elections while reforming our initiative process to make sure it remains a tool of citizens to better give them a voice in how we govern.
