The Rick Berg for Senate campaign announced today a statewide grassroots leadership team that includes District Captains in each of North Dakota's 47 legislative districts.
The District Captains represent every region of North Dakota and bring a diverse background of knowledge and experience to the Berg for Senate grassroots efforts. The team consists of community leaders, veterans, past and present legislators, farmers and ranchers, business owners, parents, students and more.
"Tracy and I are humbled by the thousands of North Dakotans who have joined our efforts to change Washington, and we are proud to have this strong grassroots leadership team in place," said Rick Berg. "I'm confident that these leaders will help build upon our already strong grassroots organization throughout the state. I look forward to working with this group as we continue our efforts to rein in Washington's out of control spending and debt, stand up to President Obama's failed policies and put Americans back to work."
The Berg for Senate District Captains leadership team will work with the campaign to build, organize and mobilize grassroots efforts throughout North Dakota. These leaders will expand on the current network of grassroots support for Rick Berg in communities throughout the state.
The Berg for Senate District Captains issued the following joint statement:
"Rick Berg is the only candidate with nearly thirty years of both private sector business leadership and public sector service. Whether it was growing up working farms, as a successful legislator, or as a small businessman that has created jobs across North Dakota, Rick has displayed the ability and experience to bring the North Dakota way to the US Senate and help put our country back on track. Although we have varied backgrounds and experiences, we all agree that the Obama way of more spending, more taxing and more debt has our country headed in the wrong direction, and to get our country back on track we need to stop doing things Obama's way and start doing them the North Dakota way. This election is about handing the next generation a bigger America, a stronger America and a growing America. We need leaders like Rick Berg who understand that Washington needs to look more like North Dakota, and we look forward to working from now until Election Day to get out our positive grassroots message, fight back against the false and negative attacks, and elect Rick Berg our next United States Senator."
This announcement comes on the heels of the first independent poll released on the race, which shows Rick Berg leading his Democratic opponent Heidi Heitkamp by seven points. The Forum Communications commissioned poll released on May 15th showed Berg leading Heitkamp 51-44 in the General Election matchup, with a margin of error of 4.3 percentage points.
