JMO founded and organized the Coalition Against Public Funding for Stadiums, a group that was able to save taxpayers more than $200 million in public dollars sought by owners of the St. Louis baseball Cardinals in 2001.

JMO has co-sponsored campaign finance reform laws to reduce the corrupting influence of money in politics.

JMO's Tax Justice for a Healthy Missouri bill updates a tax table that has remained unchanged since 1931 and that causes those with just $9,000 of taxable income to pay Missouri's top tax bracket. The JMO proposal creates a more modern, adequate, and fair tax system, while reducing taxes for 60% of Missourians and producing $1.3 billion n much needed revenue (if approved by voters).
