John Carona recognizes how important it is to maintain a careful balance between a business-friendly environment and an environment that is mindful of workers and consumers.
"Companies are only as good as their personnel," John shares. "And personnel only thrive with strong reliable companies." Carona knows a little something about building strong companies.
He has more than 30 years of business experience as founder and CEO of an international firm employing over 8,000 people. His perspective brings invaluable insight to the state legislature.
"Most people in the Texas State Legislature today are not experienced business people," he observes.
However, in Austin the creation of a balanced and healthy economic environment often falls prey to partisanship. "You never abandon your principles. Your ideology is always the foundation upon which you negotiate," the senator reinforces. "But at the end of the day, the public expects action, not inaction or gridlock, from its elected officials."
The State of Texas regulates industries to keep the public safe and well-served. Some of these regulations are expensive and time consuming. Carona feels consumers need not be sacrificed in the process of fostering an environment that promotes innovation, business and job growth in Texas. He also believes any legislation affecting economic opportunity in Texas must balance the interests of businesses, employees and consumers -- of which all are taxpayers.
