Our local economy also appears to be suffering from a loss in businesses. Without businesses to provide employment opportunities it is no wonder why our unemployment levels have not significantly improved. Residents and visitors of Philomath and Corvallis may be surprised to see an increasing number of commercial properties and office suites available for lease. While this may appear to an optimist that things are improving, what it should convey to most people is that there is a substantial lack of business in both cities. When commercial buildings and office suites are for lease it means that the businesses that were once occupying those facilities have reduced, relocated or gone out of business.

As an optimist and an entrepreneur at heart, Andrew sees every one of these locations as a possible location for some incredible new business venture. However, after speaking with local business owners and recent start ups in the area he has found that many new and old businesses in the Corvallis area are suffering from decreased or lower than expected revenues. Establishing a stable and growing economy will encourage the kind of trust consumers need to start using the services available to them.
