Surrounded by teachers at a press conference in Raleigh today, Lieutenant Governor Walter Dalton denounced the Senate Republican budget, which threatens thousands of educator jobs.

"What bothers me is a $3,500 tax credit for somebody making over $800,000 a year while you're laying these people off. That is wrong and it hurts our children," Dalton told the gathered educators.

"We have seen the other side's attacks on education. They are now doing damage to the future by continuing to insist on these reductions," Dalton said. He continued by emphasizing that Pat McCrory has supported the Republican legislative agenda, "My opponent has implicitly endorsed the reductions that we have seen."

At the event, the North Carolina Association of Educators, enthusiastically endorsed Walter Dalton for Governor. The group, made up of over 60,000 teachers, educators, and retired school personnel, pledged their full support for Dalton in this year's election.
