During the Primary, I voluntarily did not accept contributions from political action committees. That solution turned out to be like unilateral disarmament, and if I proved anything, I proved that it doesn't work. Not one candidate in North Carolina in either party agreed with me.
Right now, liberal special interest PACs are pouring millions into North Carolina to elect President Obama and turn out Obama voters. Not just in my district, but in every district in the state. And the major Democratic candidates, the Democratic Party, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, and the Democratic Governor's Association are all accepting contributions from political action committees. That is their right under the First Amendment, and I respect that right. But I can no longer play by one set of rules while the Democrats play by another -- that gives them an advantage.
I will accept PAC donations during the General Election because choosing not to would put conservatives at a disadvantage.
In addition, to ensure full public disclosure and openness, my campaign will voluntarily report every donation on our website weekly.
