U.S. Senate candidate Shelley Berkley released the following statement after thanking her supporters following her primary election win:
"Tonight marks the beginning of a new day for Nevada's middle-class. The choice voters face this fall will be between an incumbent Senator whose way of doing business is the Washington way -- protecting the big guys at every turn like Wall Street corporations, Big Oil executives and private insurance company bureaucrats -- or a new Senator who will change Washington's course by fighting tenaciously on behalf of Nevada's middle-class.
"Throughout the course of the coming months, I'll travel to every corner of Nevada to listen to middle-class families share their concerns and frustrations with the way Washington is doing business. And I'll let them know that they have a chance to change the way Washington works by electing a Senator who will put them first.
"The middle-class isn't looking for hand-outs or a leg-up. They're looking for a fair shake and for a Senator who will fight for good paying clean energy jobs while protecting Medicare and Social Security. If given the opportunity, I'll be a champion for Nevada's middle-class in Washington."
