U.S. Senator Jeff Bingaman today announced that two New Mexico airports have been awarded grants through the U.S. Department of Transportation to make improvements at the airports.
The Alamogordo-White Sands Regional Airport will receive a $172,500 for upgrades to the apron, which is needed to maintain the structural integrity of the pavement. Additionally, a $687,272 grant will help the Grant County Airport rehabilitate its existing apron pavement that has reached the end of its useful life.
"Keeping airports in to top shape can be costly. These grants will help make needed upgrades to these two airports and ensure they are safe for travelers," Bingaman said.
