Date: June 1, 2012
Location: Washington, DC

Late last night, Congressman Steve Pearce voted in favor of H.R. 5854, the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs and Related Agencies Appropriations Act for fiscal year 2013.

"Our veterans and members of the armed forces make monumental sacrifices so that we can enjoy freedom," said Pearce. "The federal government must honor these brave men and women by acting on the commitments it has made. That is what this bill does. Not only does H.R. 5854 fund construction projects at Holloman, Cannon, and Kirtland, but it also ensures pensions, disability compensations, and medical services are fully funded for our nation's veterans. I am honored to support this bill, which preserves the promises to those who have sacrificed so much for our safety."

H.R. 5854 provides funding for military construction projects and the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year to come. Included within this legislation are increases to VA pensions, compensation for disabled veterans, medical research for prosthetics
