Southerland Issues Statement on May Jobs Report

Location: Washington, DC

Representative Steve Southerland, II issued the following statement today regarding the Bureau of Labor Statistics' May jobs report, which indicates that unemployment has increased to 8.2%:

"The disappointing May jobs report comes as no surprise for the hardworking Americans who have lost their job or watched their small business crumble due to continued economic uncertainty. With 40 consecutive months of unemployment above 8% and the jobless rate back on the rise, the time to act is now. We must move past the failed policies and empty promises that got us into this mess. House Republicans have succeeded in advancing a positive jobs agenda while turning back many of the President's failed policies that would have made the situation worse. Now it's time for Harry Reid and the Senate Democrats to join us in getting to work for the American people."
