Lamborn Statement on Obama Claim that Private Sector is 'Doing Fine'

Statement

Date: June 8, 2012
Location: Washington, DC

Today at a news conference to talk about the economy, President Obama told reporters that "the private sector is doing fine." He blamed the poor employment numbers on economic problems in Europe and on cuts to public sector jobs at the state and local level.

"President Obama simply doesn't know what he is talking about. The labor force participation rate is the worst it's been in more than 30 years. The share of workers out-of-a-job for more than six months is the highest it's been in six decades. When you add up all the people who are unemployed, working part-time, or who have given up looking for work altogether, the nation's unemployment rate is close to 15 percent.

It's increasingly clear that we need new leadership in the White House to turn this economy around. President Obama is frankly, not up to the job."-- Doug Lamborn (CO-05
