Tonight California Speaker Emeritus Karen Bass (D-Los Angeles) took a pivotal step in her quest to become a member of the U.S. House of Representatives when she landed a decisive primary election victory for the 33rd Congressional District seat.
Bass issued the following statement:
"A little over one hundred days ago I asked the people of the 33rd Congressional District to consider my candidacy to represent them in Washington. Tonight I am honored and humbled by the support I have received in the Primary Election and I look forward to continuing the conversation with voters. I am also grateful beyond words for the hundreds of volunteers who have so generously given of their time and talents to make this campaign a real grassroots effort. I also thank Congresswoman Diane Watson for her strong support as well as the many leaders in Los Angeles, California and Washington, D.C. who endorsed my candidacy. The campaign is not over, and neither are the challenges we face in our communities, our state, and our country. But I know working together we will be successful in November and I know together we can bring about real results that improve the quality of life in our nation and in our neighborhoods and that make the changes we need in a system that badly needs repair."
