In a live, televised debate hosted by KOAT Action 7 News and the Albuquerque Journal, U.S. Senate candidate Martin Heinrich highlighted to voters that he is the strongest, most qualified candidate for the U.S. Senate, and will always fight for what matters most to the people of New Mexico. Heinrich defined himself as a leader during the debate, taking clear positions on key issues like creating jobs, bringing our troops in Afghanistan home to their families, and standing up to any attempts to cut Medicare or jeopardize the Social Security for our seniors.
"I'm running for the Senate because I want our children -- yours and mine -- to inherit the kind of country we all grew up believing in; an America where you prosper if you work hard and play by the rules," said Heinrich. "Whether it's protecting Medicare and Social Security, ending the Bush tax breaks for millionaires, or bringing our troops home from Iraq and Afghanistan, I've always stood up for what's right for our country and for the people of New Mexico."
Heinrich also illustrated former Congresswoman Heather Wilson's misplaced priorities, "It is critical that we reject Heather Wilson's misplaced priorities that put tax breaks for millionaires ahead of Social Security and Medicare for our seniors. New Mexico deserves better and New Mexicans deserve results."
