Drought Relief Signed into Law
President signs appropriations bill that includes disaster relief package
WASHINGTON, DC - Senator Tom Daschle announced today that the President has signed the fiscal year 2005 Military Construction Appropriations bill, which includes a $2.9 billion drought aid package that will mean tens of millions of dollars for South Dakota farmers and ranchers suffering from one of the most persistent multi-year droughts in the state's history.
"I'm delighted that the drought relief I helped secure has been signed into law today," Senator Daschle said. "This is a big victory for all of our agricultural producers who have suffered silently through this terrible drought."
