Putting America back to work is my top priority. Too many families are struggling to make ends meet which is why I am working everyday to reduce unemployment and re-ignite the American Dream by investing in our middle class. Since the Bush recession started, I have supported efforts to prevent out-sourcing of American jobs overseas, create incentives for small business and support legislation that helps our manufacturing sector Make It In America once again.
I also stood with President Obama in supporting the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act that direct over $9 billion dollars in investment in Pennsylvania and provided critical funding for the City of Philadelphia the Philadelphia School District among many of our job creating hospitals and Colleges and Universities. Additionally, I have supported legislation to make it cheaper for American companies to obtain the materials they need to manufacture goods in America. I also supported the Small Business Jobs Act which offers tax incentives to help small businesses grow.
As a long time member of the Capenters' Union, I have consistently supported organized labor, constantly earning 100% rating from the AFL-CIO. I have also helped resolve settle labor management disputes and strikes in the City of Philadelphia. I've worked with labor and management to resolve disagreements at SEPTA, the Community College of Philadelphia, Temple University among others.
