Colonel Paul Cook (ret.) reported the endorsement today of the Inland Valley Young Republicans (IVYR) for his 8th Congressional District race. The IVYR held an endorsement meeting on Thursday, April 12 at the Mill Creek Cattle Co. in Mentone. The event began at 6:00 PM and included candidates vying for state and Congressional seats in San Bernardino County. In order to receive an endorsement from the group, a candidate had to receive votes from a majority of the group's members who were present. In order to be a member of IVYR, a person must live or work in San Bernardino County and be under the age of 40.
Cook earned the endorsement over six other Republican candidates running for CD 8 and present at the meeting.
Arturo Garcia, President of IVYR stated, "The Inland Valley Young Republicans are proud to endorse Col. Paul Cook (Ret.) in the race for California's 8th Congressional District. The district, which includes the desert and mountain regions of San Bernardino County and all of Inyo and Mono counties, needs strong leadership in Washington D.C., and we believe Col. Cook will do just that if elected. We endorsed Paul because we know he is the type of candidate who wants to work with the younger generation of Republicans here in the Inland Valley."
Cook stated, "You need young and old to build a winning coalition, and the support of the Inland Valley Young Republicans is absolutely crucial to that effort. These young men and women are the next generation of leaders, and their energy and tenacity gives me so much hope for our future. Keep track of their names, because you're looking at our future business leaders, councilmembers, and lawmakers. I'm thrilled to have their support."
