Long before I became a Congressman, I was an environmentalist. All the issues we talk about, whether it be education, healthcare, or the economy, become a moot point if we do not have a clean environment with which to live and work. As a member of the House Committee on Natural Resources, I have stood up for our nation's environmental crown jewels, and remain committed to safeguarding our National Parks and Preserves. I support efforts to clean up our air, land, and water, to preserve open spaces, and to promote environmentally sound alternative energy sources that do not harm our environment. I am proud of my 100 percent lifetime rating from the League of Conservation Voters.
