Congressman Chuck Fleischmann voted for H.R. 3541, the Prenatal Nondiscrimination Act (PRENDA) of 2012. PRENDA bans sex-selective abortions, the victims of whom are overwhelmingly female.

"Sex-selective abortion is a moral outrage, in which pregnant women are often coerced into ending the life of their unborn daughters. This represents a true war on women that demands our action. Many nations that have experienced sex selective abortions have acted to ban the practice. It is time that the United States takes action to protect the life of unborn women from those who would end their life simply for being female. While I am staunchly pro-life, it is my hope that Americans of all beliefs can agree that sex-selective abortions are a tragedy and that the practice should be ended," Fleischmann said.

Sex-selective terminations of pregnancy are usually late term or partial birth abortion procedures performed after the child is pain capable. Four separate university studies concluded that sex-selective abortions take place within the United States.
