Ribble Statement on Dismal May Jobs Report

Statement

Date: June 1, 2012
Location: Washington, DC

Representative Reid Ribble (WI-08) released the following statement on the May jobs report, which showed that only 69,000 jobs were created, the lowest in the entire year. Unemployment rose to 8.2 percent for the month of May.

"Today's jobs report drives home the point that more must be done to get our economy moving. Rising unemployment is a signal that the policies this administration continues to push, such as thousands of pages of new regulations on small businesses, are not working. While more Americans are struggling to find work, 27 House-passed jobs bills that could help boost the stagnant economy are stalled in the Senate. It's time for the Senate to act so we can break this streak of high unemployment by removing government hurdles and letting small businesses focus on creating jobs."
