Rep. McKinley Responds to Dismal Job Growth Numbers

Rep. David B. McKinley, P.E. (R-W.Va.) released the following statement on today's announcement the economy added only 69,000 jobs in May, far less than economists expected. In addition, the unemployment rate rose from 8.1 percent to 8.2 percent.

"While the President may have inherited a weak economy, it's clear the failed economic policies of the Obama Administration have only made it worse. With millions of Americans still out of work and workforce participation near a 30-year low, Americans are losing hope."

"Instead of the politics of division and envy, Republicans have a plan. Currently, there are more than thirty job bills that have passed the House, but are stalled in the Senate. Today's announcement shows that the economy is still weak and we need to act. As a former small business owner myself, I am frustrated with the sluggish economy. We need a new direction in this country that will reduce barriers to job creation instead of penalizing small businesses with more regulations and higher taxes."
