Dewhurst for Texas announced today that David Dewhurst has signed the No Climate Tax Pledge, a project of Americans For Prosperity-Texas (AFP), committing him to oppose any legislation relating to climate change that includes a net increase in government revenue.
"I am committed to stopping the endless flow of government regulation which has come out of Washington for the last three years," said Dewhurst. "In Washington, I will promote the lightest regulatory hand possible and work with businesses and the private sector to ensure government supports their growth, rather than holding them back."
During his time as Land Commissioner and Lt. Governor, Dewhurst has continually opposed any and all harmful government regulations.
The No Climate Tax Pledge is a project of AFP and an effort to separate the tax question from the climate change issue. Many climate change proposals at all levels of government include substantial increases in government revenues, and AFP believes these bills should be revenue neutral. The No Climate Tax Pledge is available here. The AFP has more than 110,000 members in Texas.
