U.S. Senate candidate David Dewhurst released the following statement today on the disastrous effects President Barack Obama's policies continue to have on the American economy.
"The economy continues to suffer under President Barack Obama's anti-business policies, and today's anemic employment numbers are a painful reminder of the millions of Americans that remain out of work," said David Dewhurst. "The first step in getting our economy back on track is to send President Obama back to Chicago."
According to the Labor Department, the number of people not in the labor force rose by 522,000 in April, from 87,897,000 to 88,419,000. The percentage of Americans looking for work fell to the lowest level in more than 30 years. Dewhurst said he will take his proven record and the tested Texas business model to Washington to help put Americans back to work.
"As a lifelong businessman, I understand that to jumpstart our economy and create millions of new jobs, we need to produce a stable tax and regulatory environment that encourages American businesses to invest in the economy and create jobs. Using proven Texas principles, the Lone Star State has become the best job-creating state in the nation, with 1.3 million new jobs created over the last nine years. It's the same model I'll take to Washington to dramatically cut federal spending and taxes and implement pro-growth policies to improve our economy and get the country back on track."
