Ted Cruz, Republican candidate for U.S. Senate, made the following statement today regarding the runoff with Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst in the Senate race:
"The primary election results are breathtaking. It's humbling to see that conservatives across Texas rose up and said "Enough' to the establishment.
"This race is ground zero in the battle between conservatives and the moderate establishment. And the runoff will be decided by grassroots conservatives.
"A year ago, there wasn't a soul who thought such a thing was possible. But this campaign has always been about taking our country back, restoring the Constitution and returning our government to "We, the people.' We would not have been able to make it to the runoff without the power of the grassroots and the tens of thousands of men and women who are sparking the great conservative awakening across America.
"David Dewhurst, who is personally worth over $200 million, spent over $12 million in nasty and false personal attacks. In the runoff, the coming Dewhurst attacks, no doubt, will be even nastier and bear even less fidelity to the truth.
"But Dewhurst's vast personal wealth cannot buy this race, and grassroots conservatives will stand united to defeat the establishment. The battle is on, and liberty is at stake."
