We face an education funding crisis in this state. The courts have ruled time and time again that the state is not living up to its constitutional duty. Instead of solving the problem, the Legislature has punted the problem into the future. We must address our funding gap.
I support three specific actions to bring education funding in line with the Legislature's required responsibility:
-More dollars directly to the classroom. Spend less on bureaucracy and more on educating our kids.
-Uphold the will of the voters. Voters have said they want lower class sizes, but instead the legislature overturned the will of the people.
-Increase funding as a percentage of the budget. This means we need to reprioritize state spending to ensure education is fully funded.
