Guthrie Reacts to Jobs Numbers

Statement

Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) released the following statement today, June 1, 2012, in response to the most recent jobs report:

"Today's announcement that the economy added only 69,000 jobs in May and unemployment increased to an abysmal 8.2% is a fresh reminder of the job-killing policies of this Administration.

"Over the past three and a half years, President Obama has offered policies that increased our national debt, failed to create new jobs, injected more uncertainty for job creators, and left our economy more vulnerable. His failed stimulus bill, which spent over a trillion dollars, promised to prevent unemployment from rising above 8%. However, this marks the 40th consecutive month with unemployment above 8%. Clearly the President's borrow-and-spend policies have done nothing to improve our struggling economy.

"We must promote a jobs agenda centered on supporting our nation's small businesses and removing the burdensome regulations coming out of Washington. We need to work to get our country back on track and restore America's competitive edge."
