The National Education Association (NEA), the nation's largest professional employee organization committed to advancing public education, has endorsed Congressman Rubén Hinojosa for re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives, Congressional District 15.
The NEA is "proud to support" the re-election of Congressman Hinojosa and "applauds [his] commitment to public education and children." The Texas State Teachers Association also supports Hinojosa's endorsement as a candidate who invests in public education and advocates for partnerships with parents, families and communities to achieve student success.
"I am truly honored to have the support of the NEA, an organization strongly devoted to improving the quality of public education and increasing student achievement," said U.S. Rep. Hinojosa. "I thank them for the continued privilege of wanting me to represent South Texas families in the U.S. House and to continue fighting for increased education funding and the resources to ensure our students are college-educated and job-ready."
Congressman Hinojosa added, "Now more than ever, we must invest in our children. It is imperative that youth and adults receive a high quality education which will fuel our economic job growth and prosperity for the future. If we do not invest in education from pre-school through graduate school as well as job training and skills programs, we place our nation's future at risk."
Recognized as a strong voice for South Texas communities, Congressman Hinojosa is committed to making higher education more affordable. He has succeeded at reducing student loan interest rates by almost half and has fought to protect the current funding of Pell Grants and direct federal college loans. His experienced leadership will continue to significantly benefit the diverse educational needs of our South Texas families.
