Education is more than just a campaign issue for Jared.
As the father of two children in our public schools, the husband of a teacher, and an adjunct university professor himself, Jared cares deeply about education. Jared believes that every American should have the opportunity to receive a quality public education; he also feels that greater investments are needed across the spectrum from pre-K to college. Jared will continue to push for the development of a highly skilled workforce for a clean-energy economy, which is essential to our global economic competitiveness.
Jared supports immigration policies that help to keep our brightest international students working in the United States after getting their degrees. Similarly, Jared regards the DREAM Act as a common-sense investment in keeping our country safer and strengthening our economy by offering legal status to bright young undocumented immigrants who are willing to serve in our military or pursue higher education.
In Congress, Jared will work tirelessly to reform the flawed "No Child Left Behind" act by making it less punitive and more flexible, and by providing federal funding to support federal mandates. A related priority for Jared is securing adequate funding for the IDEA special-education mandate, which must have increased federal funding due to its substantial impact on school budgets.
