House Republican Policy Committee Chairman Tom Price, M.D. (R-GA) issued the following statement regarding the May jobs report.
"Today's jobs report comes as the level of economic growth in America continues to disappoint and underperform. The economy is not producing enough jobs and opportunities to the point that many of our fellow citizens have simply given up and left the workforce all-together. For those who have found work, many are underemployed and still seeking full-time jobs to make ends meet. There is the threat of higher taxation and regulation, high energy prices, and a general uncertainty among job creators and entrepreneurs. During this Congress, House Republicans have made multiple efforts -- passing bipartisan pieces of legislation -- seeking to change direction and get this economy back on the right track. Our efforts have, for the most part, been ignored by the Senate and the president. It is our hope that the pressure will build on our Senate Democrat colleagues and President Obama to act and make the effort to find solutions that will help unleash America's entrepreneurial spirit. In the meantime, House Republicans will continue to bring forth proposals in the months ahead that promote economic freedom and opportunity."
