Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont.) today named Sean Neary as the new Director of Communications for the Senate Finance Committee where he will oversee the Committee's media operations. Neary joins the Committee from the office of Senator Kent Conrad (D-N.D.) where he served as the Communications Director.
"Sean has close to two decades' worth of experience in media and communications, much of it in the Senate. He knows the issues and will serve as an important part of my team as we continue to tackle the serious challenges facing our nation and get our economy moving," Baucus said. "On every issue from making our country more competitive in the global economy through tax reform and creating U.S. jobs by increasing exports, Sean will be a tremendous asset to me and the entire Finance team."
Prior to working on Capitol Hill, Neary was the editorial director for America's Promise, a national child advocacy organization founded by General Colin Powell. Neary started his career in journalism first at Rolling Stone magazine, then as an editor at George magazine. He has also written for numerous publications, including the Washington Post, USA Today and People magazine.
"Chairman Baucus is results oriented with a long record of accomplishments and the proven ability to bring people together to get things done," Neary said. "I am excited by the opportunity to work with Chairman Baucus and his team on the Senate Finance Committee."
Neary is a graduate of the University of Delaware.
