After a long-simmering dispute, the Commerce Department has slapped tariffs, ranging from 30%-250%, on most Chinese solar products. Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack (CA-45), Chairman of the House Subcommittee on Commerce, Manufacturing and Trade, issued the following statement:
"The Chinese have been hoodwinking us on trade agreements for far too long. That's why it was critically important for the Commerce Department to take decisive action. Hopefully, the imposition of stiff tariffs will finally get the attention of Chinese companies and the Chinese government, ultimately paving the for a fair, long-term settlement to this sticky, ongoing issue."
