With Memorial Day approaching, Governor Susana Martinez issued the following statement paying tribute to the men and women of the United States military who gave their lives in the service of their country. Governor Martinez has issued an executive order for flags to be flown at half-staff from sunrise until sundown in honor of American troops who have died in the line of duty. On Monday, Governor Martinez will be attending Memorial Day Services at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
"Memorial Day is an opportunity for all New Mexicans to reflect on the bravery and dedication of our troops who died while serving their country," said Governor Martinez. "We owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to the men and women who wear the uniform of the United States military as well as their families for the immense sacrifices they make to answer the call of duty. Chuck and I are particularly humbled by those who gave all in order to protect the freedoms we cherish every day. I hope all New Mexicans will join me in a moment of reflection on Memorial Day as we pay tribute to those individuals who made the ultimate sacrifice."
