Small business owners are the backbone of our economy. I am committed to fight to create a strong economy where businesses can grow. We need an economy that is born of a low tax structure and a consistent government policy that does not stifle growth. We need less government red tape and burdensome regulations.
In 2011, the Obama Administration issued 1,010 new government regulations that will cost businesses over $231 billion, and the Administration currently has between 3,000-4000 new regulations in the pipeline. Once a new regulation goes into effect, it may be on the books for decades and is often costly and burdensome to businesses. This is why I introduced H.R. 3392, the Regulatory Review Act, which requires any major rule to be reviewed every ten years for a cost-benefit analysis, after which Congress will review the regulation and determine if it can be implemented in a more effective and less costly manner through repeal or modification.
We need to make America the most attractive place to do business. If we create an environment where we can unleash the talent and industry of the American people -- prosperity will follow. We need to get government out of the way.
