Culberson Opposes Houston JetPort West
In January 2004, local businessman Ron Henriksen filed paperwork to alert the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of his proposal to build a privately funded airport near Fulshear. Since then, hundreds of local residents have contacted me to express their overwhelming opposition to this project.
As a United States Representative, I will always work to defend and improve the quality of life for my constituents. I am convinced that this airport would have a negative impact on the quality of life for area residents. There are a number of serious safety concerns spelled out in the Hensley report, and I am supporting Majority Leader Tom DeLay's efforts to ensure the FAA takes those concerns into consideration. Majority Leader DeLay represents the Fulshear area, and he has requested that the FAA deny the JetPort West proposal. I completely agree that there are many compelling reasons for the FAA to reject this proposal, and I will continue to keep a close eye on this situation as a decision is expected within the next month.
