Today, Congressman Mike Michaud announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded the Bangor International Airport (BGR) $4.9 million for the rehabilitation of its general aviation apron. Renovation of the apron, an area used for parking airplanes, will allow larger aircraft to travel in and out of Bangor.
"Improvements to Bangor International Airport's general aviation apron will allow for heavier aircraft to travel in and out of the airport, which could lead to new business and travel opportunities," said Michaud, a member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. "Investments in our infrastructure create jobs, make our businesses more competitive, and move our economy forward."
The Department of Transportation's $4,913,126.00 grant will support Phase I of the airport's plan to improve its general aviation apron. This construction follows a series of recent renovations completed to improve travel in and out of Bangor.
