Today Maryland Congressman Chris Van Hollen issued the following statement applauding the decision by the Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit to deny the intervenors' request to stay the District Court's ruling in Van Hollen v. FEC:

"This decision is yet another important step in our continuing fight to restore transparency to our electoral process. The American people have a right to know who is bankrolling the ads that are designed to influence their votes. In its decision to deny the stay of the lower Court's ruling, the Court of Appeals has signaled that the public interest is best served by increased donor disclosure. Yesterday's decision by the Appellate Court protects the important ruling of the District Court that reinstates the FEC regulations of 2003 that require the full disclosure of donors who underwrite ads that are designed to influence Federal elections."
