Kirsten Gillibrand is committed to always protecting a woman's right to choose. During her time in Congress, she has become a national leader working to protect reproductive rights and provide women and girls with full access to reproductive health care. Kirsten knows that a woman's medical decisions should be between her, her family and her doctor, not Washington politicians.
Kirsten Gillibrand's advocacy on the part of women's reproductive rights has earned her 100% ratings from the National Organization for Women, Planned Parenthood and NARAL: Pro-Choice America as well as the early and enthusiastic endorsements of Planned Parenthood, NARAL and EMILYs List.
During the Senate health care debate, Kirsten was a leader in the effort to defeat the dangerous Stupak amendment in the Senate health care bill, which, as she said at the time, "would likely prevent women from purchasing insurance with reproductive care even with their own money" and "put the health of millions of women and young girls at grave risk."
Kirsten will continue to do everything in her power to oppose the efforts of those who seek to roll back women's reproductive freedom. While she believes it's important to reduce abortions in this country and will continue to work on many ways to reduce unintended pregnancies and promote adoption, Kirsten believes that we must always protect a woman's right to choose.
