Today, FreedomWorks PAC announced its official endorsement of Thomas Massie for Congress in Kentucky's 4th District. Through in-depth one-on-one discussions with Massie, a review of the candidates in the race, and input from FreedomWorks PAC members in the district, FreedomWorks PAC believes Thomas Massie is the clear choice for voters who support free markets, fiscal responsibility, and constitutionally limited government.
As a signer of the Contract from America, a list of policy priorities generated by hundreds of thousands of votes from tea party activists nationwide, Massie pledged to fight for free markets, fiscal responsibility, and constitutionally limited government.
Massie was born and raised in Kentucky, attended MIT and started his career as an inventor and entrepreneur. He understands what it takes to create a business and how overregulation stifles the creation of jobs.
In 2010, Massie challenged a longtime Republican incumbent for Lewis County Judge Executive and won by a 2 to 1 margin. As the Lewis County Judge Executive he proved to be a leader in reducing government spending, cutting enough waste from the county's budget to pay for the first three years of his salary.
FreedomWorks PAC Executive Director Max Pappas commented, "Thomas Massie is a leader who is on the front lines for constitutionally-limited government and fiscal responsibility. Thomas Massie was an early supporter of Senator Rand Paul and acted as surrogate for his senate campaign in 2010. Furthermore, Congressman Ron Paul has personally endorsed Massie for this race."
"Massie has experience being a successful entrepreneur and a successful government official, giving him skills that are needed in Congress right now. Thomas Massie will work to rein in spending and be a leading for voice for economic freedom."
"I am very honored and humbled to receive FreedomWorks' endorsement," said Thomas Massie. "They are a premier grassroots organization advocating for individual liberties and freedom. Their volunteers are some of the best in the nation at getting out the vote. Their support is a tremendous plus for my campaign."
FreedomWorks PAC is a grassroots service center for over 1.6 million activists nationwide dedicated to fighting for lower taxes, less government, and more freedom in every Congressional district in America.
Thomas Massie, 41, holds an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering and a graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from MIT. He is an award winning inventor, successful businessman, and farmer. Currently he serves as Judge Executive in Lewis County where he lives with his wife and four children on their family farm.
