This week the Senate considered several budget proposals, including the House-passed Path to Prosperity which would cut federal spending by $5 trillion, address much-needed tax reform, and help shrink the size and scope of government. The Democrat-led Senate failed to pass a single budget, and, for the third year in a row, failed to present a budget alternative of their own. Even the President's budget was unanimously opposed once again (0-99). Meanwhile, House Republicans have worked tirelessly to get our nation back on a firm fiscal trajectory.
Small businesses and families know you need an effective budget to run an operation. Our nation cannot afford this gridlock and inefficiency, which is why I'm cosponsoring H.R. 3643, No Budget, No Pay Act. This common-sense legislation ensures Members of Congress are not paid when they are not fulfilling one of their primary duties -- passing a federal budget.
