Today, U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05) released the following statement on the passage of U.S.-Israel Enhanced Security Cooperation Act (H.R. 4133), a bill he co-sponsored:
"With so much uncertainty in the Middle East, one thing that must never be uncertain is America's support for Israel. A threat to Israel is a threat to America, and we will not let our great ally face these challenges alone. The passage of the U.S.-Israel Enhanced Security Cooperation Act affirms the strong military and security ties our two nations have forged over the years and our commitment to strengthening defense efforts in the region."
Rep. Quigley has been a stalwart supporter of Israel. In 2011, he spoke out against the unilateral Palestinian bid for statehood and called for direct two-party talks with Israel. He has repeatedly called for increased sanctions against Iran, specifically urging sanctions against the Central Bank of Iran. In addition, last year he urged Secretary Clinton to oppose U.N. action against Israeli settlements.
