Congressman Marsha Blackburn (TN-7) today issued the following statement on House passage of H.R. 4310, the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2013.

"This legislation will ensure that the brave men and women within every branch of the Armed Forces have the tools they need to effectively fight the global war on terrorism. It restores sanity to America's military strategy and maintains our position as a worldwide leader. It also provides our troops with a well deserved 1.7 percent pay raise, while rejecting the President's insulting plan to increase TRICARE fees on our nation's military retirees.

"I will continue to fight to make sure we meet and protect the needs of those serving at Fort Campbell, the 101st Screaming Eagles, and our reservists and members of the National Guard around Tennessee. This bill also prevents devastating cuts that would weaken our nation's military while also preserving the constitutional rights that are guaranteed to every American without extending them to foreign terrorists."
